Backlash Loot List Rules (Cata)
Basic Rules
Each guild member, upon joining the guild, is given access to the loot list, and is allowed to fill out that loot list as they see fit within the following rules.
- Each player starts with 30 bid slots, divided into brackets of 3, 5, or 7 slots each. These brackets are labelled as bracket 1 thru 5.
- Bids are divided into legacy/10man (non-current raids) and non-legacy/25man (current raids)
- Non-legacy has an additional "Bonus bid" for veteran members. This bonus bid is awarded to members in guild at the start of a raid tier, and functions as a bracket "0", and is carried over to legacy if unused.
- Whenever an item drops, the player with the highest bracket (starting at bracket 1 being best) receives that item.
- The Main-Tank/Tank officer may choose to claim an item as tank priority, instantly spending a bracket as would have been required to win that item instead. This is used sparingly and only if necessary for progression.
- In the case of a bracket tie, guild officers may choose to distribute the item within the bracket, based on attendance, performance, need, blocks, or other factors as necessary; however in lieu of a negative factor, normal tiebreak rules apply.
- In the case of a tie, the total sum of blocked slots within that bracket are used as a tiebreaker, with the player with the least number of blocked slots being awarded the item.
- In the case of a further tie, a /roll 100 is used to decide the winner, with the highest roll winning the item.
- In the case of any tie, the main-tank officer may choose to automatically win the tiebreak of the same type for a tank as necessary, as above, this is to be used sparingly and only if necessary for progression.
- In case pugs are required in a loot-list raid, the raid will be advertised as an open-roll MS>OS raid, all members with the item on their lists MS will /roll, and the item will be distributed via lootlist if won by any guild member.
- This gives pugs in our raid an equally fair chance at loot, while not restricting the use of the lootlist to distribute items appropriately within the guild.
- All items will follow Main Spec > Off Spec = ALT Main Spec > ALT Off Spec Priority. In the case of dual spec, if the spec is used regularly and actively in raid, it may be considered as a main spec at officer discretion.
- Crafted Items that are BoE and use raid materials will be placed on your lootlist. These crafts will be distributed at the end of each raiding week, based on availability, in lootlist order. It is your responsibility to provide other materials for the craft, however the guild will provide access to reputable crafters for the item and pay any related crafting fees.
Blocking Slots
Slots are blocked in order to prevent those who win items from winning more items, and to encourage ongoing participation in the guild.
- Whenever any player wins an item, the slot that they used to win that item is "Blocked"
- Blocked slots may not be used for any bids, and are used to calculate tiebreakers.
- Blocked slots remain blocked for the remainder of the phase.
Placing Bids
Members are expected to keep their bids up to date with their gear, and place bids on items based on their main spec as a priority.
- Each guild member is expected to use the form to place their bids, and keep them up to date as their gear changes.
- Lower brackets should be used for offspec and pvp items at the player's discretion.
- Members are expected to understand what gear is valid for their spec, and avoid bidding on items that are not appropriate. Officers reserve the right to remove any bids/won items that are inappropriate.
- Bids may be changed at any time, however any bids changed during the active raid week (Defined as from Tuesday Maintenance until the last pull of the raid week) will not take effect until the following week.
- Players may opt to leave bid slots empty.
- Items may not be bid on for vendoring, gold, disenchanting, or non-use cases.
- During the first 2 weeks of progression, Non-Legacy loot bids may not be adjusted. This does not apply to phase 1 content.
Passing Items
If a member no longer wants an item they have a bid on, they may be allowed to pass under the following rules.
- If the original winner has won a raid item of identical slot/value during the current raid week, they may choose to pass entirely on the item, fully withdrawing their bid, and none of the below rules apply.
- If any member wins an item and no longer desires it, they may opt to pass.
- The item then goes to the next member in order, who may take the item, or opt to pass, continuing until any member keeps the item for their bid, or all members have passed.
- If all members pass, the item is placed for roll. Players with the item on their loot list may roll, however if they win the item, the slot will be blocked.
- If the original member takes the item, and later chooses to offer it in trade to another member, the trade follows the same rules as above.
- Whenever an item is passed, it is your responsibility to remove it from your loot list. Officers may remove repeatedly passed items from your lootlist at their discretion.
Unwanted Items
Sometimes, junk drops. Lots of times, junk drops.
- At the beginning of each raid week reset (Tuesday Morning), any items that have no bids will be considered as available for sale to members outside the guild. These items may be sold by officers for gold, which will be placed fully in the guild bank.
- Any BoP item that drops and has no bids or buyers on it is considered an "Open" item. Anyone may /roll for the item, with the highest roll winning regardless of spec, alt, main, off spec, pug, or any other circumstance; if you want an item, it should be on your list.
- Any BoP item that is "Open" and has no takers will be given to guild officers to be disenchanted and placed within the guild bank.
New Members, Socials, and Attendance
New members and socials to the raiding team have limitations on looting. Raiders are expected to attend raids reliably.
- All new members (Initiates) are ineligible for loot via bids on their first week. They are eligible to win "Open" items, with the normal rules applying.
- New members initial blocked slots will be seeded based on the average slots blocked in the guild at the time of completion of the trial week, and will be set to a value between 50% and 120% based on the new members existing gear needs and performance, at the discretion of the officers.
- This functions to allow new, undergeared members catch up, and while new members joining with exceptional gear will still be able to acquire upgrades without having an advantage over existing guild members
- New members automatically lose all tiebreakers.
- Social members will not have a loot list, and will be eligible for "Open" items.
- Socials that wish to raid with the guild regularly will need to contact an officer, and will begin at the Initiate rank.
- During this trial period, all Initiates are expected to be available and attuned/ready for the raids.
- All raiding guild members are expected to maintain a high attendance, with only 3 missed days per 2 months (80%). If you expect to miss more than this limitation (IE vacation lasting more than a week), please speak directly with an officer so that we are aware. If your attendance falls below this requirement, your rank will be reduced by 1 level for each missed day below the requirement, and will be recovered when the attendance goes above the requirement once more. If your rank falls to Social, we will begin recruiting to fill your spot.
- Any members expecting not to make a raid day are expected to post at least 24 hours in advance of the raid within the "#Raid-attendance" Channel in discord.
- There is no raid required raid on the following holiday weeks; however if available, we will attempt to raid depending on numbers. Members are still requested to post an absence, however all absences are considered "free"
- TBD
- Members missing any part of a raid week are given lower priority on other raids the same week, in order to prevent "raid dodging"
- Members that are unable to reliably make raids, have poor attendance, or raid-inhibiting performance for an extended period of time may be placed in the social rank by a 66% vote of all officers in the guild. We take the removal of a raid spot very seriously, and intend to only use it as a last-option; and you will always be notified of the situation long before it gets to this point.
Recipes
BoP Recipes that create BoE items will be decided by the officers of the guild, based on attendance, longevity, activity, and general availability. Once a recipe is awarded, the winner is to use it immediately. BoP recipes that create BoP items will be handled by lootlist priority.
World Bosses
Due to the relative difficulty of obtaining a world boss, the general expectation of the presence of random PUGS, the need for them to be looted rapidly, and the inability to trade world boss loot, all world boss drops will be set to open roll, Main spec = need, off spec = greed, all others = pass. This policy will be revisited on the start of each phase to determine if it is still appropriate.
Gatherables & Materials Drops & Free Flasks
Any non-binding random drop materials that are used to craft gear or consumables should be sent to the guild bank. Any Random drop greens under 50 gold will be disenchanted by the guild in order to fund repairs. Any Random drop greens over 50 gold, Blues, and Epics, will go to the guild bank to be sold. Players who need a random drop blue or epic not on the loot list may opt to spend a bid slot in the bracket equivalent as listed below (valuation determined by officers).
- 249g-1g: Bracket 5
- 499g-250g: Bracket 4
- 999g-500g: Bracket 3
- 1999g-1000g: Bracket 2
- 2000g+: Bracket 1
Any items won this way must be equipped immediately.
End of Phase Transition
Near the end of a phase, the following happens:
- Your legacy lootlist is cleared.
- Your non-legacy lootlist is moved to legacy, retaining all blocks and items listed. Bracket 0's are no longer eligible to be changed, and are marked in discord directly. At officer discretion (Generally if everyone's legacy list is too used up), this list may have identical, specific bids unlocked for every member of the guild to facilitate more space for the merged lists.
It is highly recommended to review your legacy list and merge any older items still needed onto your list. - You receive a new non-legacy lootlist to fill out as needed. Bracket 0's may be locked behind specific requirements at the officer's discretion.
This methodology will be reviewed as more information is available on how Blizzard intends to implement item scaling.
